Passionate. Intuitive. Detailed.
Tasheena outworks everyone—in the legal arena and in the community. Originally from Amarillo, Tasheena learned her work ethic from her journeyman father who played professional basketball around the world. Following his lead, Tasheena was a point guard of South Plains College’s women’s basketball team before transferring to West Texas A&M to earn her B.S. in Pre-Law with a minor in History. While studying at WTAMU, Tasheena worked through college at a juvenile detention center where she mentored children and teenagers.
Tasheena pursued her ambition to become an attorney and graduated from SMU Dedman School of Law, cum laude, in 2017. Despite her intense class schedule, Tasheena worked with the honorary service organization, SMU Barristers, served as President of the Black Law Student’s Association, interned with Texas Rangers Baseball Club and Dallas City Attorney’s office and won the award for the 2015 Best Speaker for Jackson Walker Moot Court Competition.
Tasheena worked throughout law school. She invested her time assisting with the drafting of a clemency petition granted by President Obama and participated in multiple other clinics. In 2015, Tasheena attended Oxford University College for SMU’s Study Abroad program. She also worked in the SMU W.W. Caruth, Jr. Child Advocacy Clinic and she served as guardian ad litem/attorney ad litem. Tasheena also aided in the Karnes Family Immigration Detention Center providing legal assistance to mothers and their children seeking asylum and volunteers to empower children whose mothers are incarcerated through the Girls Embracing Mothers charity. Finally, Tasheena worked with the Hoops Up! Foundation to serve children through sports, fitness, and a healthy lifestyle.
